ARCHS' Healthy Vision Network for Kids partnership provides free eye exams/eye glasses for area children who are underinsured or uninsured.

ARCHS' HVN4KIDS: Currently taking a limited number of appointments per month.

In 2007, ARCHS launched HVN4KIDS - promoting access to eye care for area children ages 3-14 living in St. Louis City/County and St. Charles County. During the first phase of this new program HVN4KIDS will work to promote the Crown For Kids Care program operated by Crown Vision Center. Underinsured or uninsured children must meet certain eligibility requirements.

Children must be referred to this program. NO WALK INS ACCEPTED.

History:

In 2006, ARCHS' Healthy Vision Network (HVN) completed a two-year educational effort that successfully provided free eye screenings and exams to 1,060 area adults (ages 18-20).

HVN conducted 906 free eye exams and distributed 1,122 free eyeglasses to underinsured or uninsured adults. Seven cataract surgeries were also performed.

HVN is a partnership with ARCHS, Crown Vision Centers, UMSL School of Optometry, Regional Lions Clubs and area healthcare providers.

The HVN partnership was initially funded by a $134,800 grant from the Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH). HVN partners contributed an additional $126,500 in goods and services to support the program.

In 2006, MFH awarded ARCHS’ HVN partnership an additional $199,984 two-year grant to continue the HVN partnership in Missouri. From July 2006-June 2008, more than 1,200 adults benefited from HVN. ARCHS' thanks MFH for its support of HVN.

The adult program is now over, but HVN4KIDS is still taking limited appointments.
